A mass of 2 kg is suspended with thread AB. Thread CD of the same type is attached to the other end of 2 kg mass.
(i) Lower end of the lower thread is pulled gradually, hander and hander is the downward direction so as to apply force on AB. Which of the thread will break & why?
(ii) If the lower thread is pulled with a jerk, what happens?

Apply Newton's second law for an object at rest on Earth and analyse the result.

Two masses of 5 kg and 3 kg are suspended with help of mass less inextensible string as shown. Calculate T₁ and T₂ when system is going upwards with acceleration m/s². (Use g= 9.8 m/s²)

A block 1 of mass m₁, constrained to move along a plane. inclined at angle e to the horizontal, is connected via a massless inextensible string that passes over. a massless pulley, to a second block 2 of mass m₂. Assume the coefficient of static friction between the block and the inclined plane is and μ_s the coefficient of kinetic friction is μ_s.
What is the relation between the masses of block 1 and block 2 such that the system just starts to slip?

A neutron having a mass 1.67 x 10^-27 kg and moving at 10⁸ ms^-1 collides with a deuteron at rest and sticks to it. If the mass of deuteron is 3.34 x 10^-27 kg, find the speed of the combination.

A bob of mass 0.1 kg hung from the ceiling of room by a string 2 m long is oscillating. At its mean position the speed of a bob' is 1 ms^-1. What is the trajectory of the oscillating bob if the string is cut when the bob is
(i) At the mean position
(ii) At its extreme position.

As shown in the diagram, three masses m, 3m and Sm connected together lie on a frictionless horizontal surface and pulled to the left by a force F. The tension T₁ in the first string is 24N. Find

(i) acceleration of the system
(ii) tension in the second string and
(iii) force F

Briefly explain on Aristotle vs. Newton's approach on sliding object.

The motion of a particle of mass m is described by h = ut + 1/2 gt². Find the force acting on particle.
